Thank you again Brantley and Tori for allowing us the opportunity to see this “unicorn”.This license extends our regular Royalty Free / Editorial license to an unlimited number of seats within the same organization. This was truly an exceptional day for us. There is no cell service in some of this area. A tire inflator and a spare would be wise items to have. In addition, on the ranch you will also be driving a few more miles on unpaved roads to the sites and the canyon. It requires driving about 20 miles of unpaved mostly graded road. My final point will be the access to the ranch. Make sure you eat in the covered shelter on top before your descent and pack plenty of fluids while you walk among the ancient etchings. Good sturdy hiking shoes will ease your trek. For a senior desk jockey like me with knee and back surgery experience, it was strenuous and getting out was even more of a challenge but I survived. The family has also amassed a huge collected of petrified wood which is tastefully displayed on the grounds as well as the last remaining bunkhouse of the Hashknife Cattle Company which was relocated here by the family. Brantley Baird found his first pot when he was 11. Couple that with hundreds of arrowheads, pots, dippers, ladles, bowls and mugs all found on the property over the years. Many ranch artifacts are included in the museum. To me, many of these glyphs were Fremont style but as Brantley Baird would say “who really knows”.īefore you get to the canyon, you are allowed to experience the “museum” with years of the ranch and family history of the Bairds which includes their ownership of this 5,000 acre ranch since World War II.

Many of the reviews have described the “tour” through the partially excavated Pueblo, the Navajo/Hopi replicated site and the Chevelon Canyon full of many petroglyphs. However, the Baird family (Tori) allowed us to visit on an “off day”. We have been wanting to come here for years but timing and advance reservations were limiting and this time was no different. Words cannot describe the awesomeness of the day’s events.
